AN Illawarra under 13 rugby union team will embark on an intensive 10-match tour of New Zealand's South Island in the July school holidays.

The 25-man squad for the demanding tour was selected after trials last year.

"This group of boys are the current NSW Country champions and finished third in the 2007 state titles," coach Ron Davis said.

"Cost of the tour for the players is minimal due to fundraising and sponsorship from Tory and Wollongong Toyota," he said.

Davis said more players may yet be added to the squad. Those seeking a selection trial can ring Paul Connor on 0409 591892.
